Yasmin Fakih, L.Ac., MAOM, FABORM
A short biography about Yasmin and her credentials.
Yasmin has always known she wanted to help people. She grew up in a family where both her parents were doctors and she saw first hand how rewarding and fulfilling a career devoted to keeping people healthy could be.
Prelude to Harmony
Yasmin completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Kentucky. By the time she was in her last year of college she knew she wanted to become an acupuncturist and practice traditional Chinese medicine. She knew this after reading an article about how an ever increasing number of people were turning to these natural and alternative therapies for their healthcare. What intrigued her the most about Oriental medicine was how it looks at the body from a holistic point of view and gets to the underlying cause of disharmony instead of just treating symptoms. Acupuncture helps engage the body's natural ability to heal itself with each acupuncture and herbal treatment tailored specifically to the individual being treated.
After careful consideration, Yasmin chose to obtain her Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree from the four year program at Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine. She is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and California. It’s worth noting California has the strictest certification process in the nation, yielding some of the most dedicated practitioners.
